Branchbranch-flow

A branch — the point in a flow where the path divides and routes one way or another.

Breakbreak-loop

Break — out of the loop mid-turn, stop iterating now and carry on after it.

Conditioncondition

A condition — the point in a flow where the path splits depending on a test.

Continuecontinue-loop

Continue — skip the rest of this turn of the loop and take the next one.

Error handlererror-handler

An error handler — the catch branch where things go when they fail.

Error patherror-path

The error path — where a flow goes when a step goes wrong, the catch branch.

Event alertevent-alert

An event card with an alert under its bolt — an event that raised a warning.

Event checkevent-check

A lightning bolt beside a check — an event that was handled and acknowledged.

Event failedevent-failed

A lightning bolt beside an X — an event whose handler failed.

Event idleevent-idle

An event card with a Z under its bolt — a trigger that has not fired in a while.

Event stoppedevent-stopped

An event card with a stop square under its bolt — an event stopped from propagating.

Filter stepfilter-step

A filter step — only some of the items pass the condition and go on.

Mutexmutex-flow

A mutex — one at a time by lock, exclusive access to a shared resource.

Rulerule

A rule — when this, then that, always, an if-then policy that never varies.

Semaphoresemaphore

A semaphore — take a signal light before you enter, a lock with a few slots.

Success pathsuccess-path

The success path — the green branch things take when they go right.

Switchswitch-case

A switch — many ways out rather than two, routing to a branch by case.

Timeout branchtimeout-flow

A timeout branch — where a flow goes when a step takes too long.

Whilewhile-loop

While — round again as long as the condition holds, then stop.
