A coin beside a padlock — money held in escrow until both sides deliver.

Keep-alivekeep-alive

Keep-alive — the connection held open so the next request costs nothing to start.

Long pollinglong-polling

Long polling — the request held open until there is something to answer with.

Monitor pausemonitor-pause

A screen with a pause mark on it — playback held, the display paused.

Pause — hold it there, suspend playback or a running process without ending it.
